A sea of colour swept across Overstone Park yesterday as hundreds of participants took part in the annual Northampton Colour Run, raising vital funds for Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity while enjoying one of the county’s most vibrant and family-friendly fundraising events.
Held at the picturesque Overstone Park near Northampton, the popular 5K event brought together people of all ages and abilities for a fun-filled day of exercise, laughter and community spirit. Unlike a traditional race, the Northampton Colour Run was not timed and featured no winners or losers, allowing participants to run, walk or jog at their own pace while being showered in clouds of brightly coloured powder at a series of paint stations along the route.
Families, friends, colleagues and community groups embraced the colourful challenge, many dressed in white T-shirts that quickly became living canvases as they made their way around the course. The atmosphere was one of celebration rather than competition, with participants encouraging one another and enjoying the unique experience together.
The event also highlighted the important work carried out by Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity. Every pound raised will help support local people living with serious and terminal illnesses, funding essential palliative care services across Northamptonshire and providing support for patients and their families when they need it most.
Organisers were delighted to see such a strong turnout, with many first-time participants taking part alongside returning supporters. The event’s inclusive nature meant that everyone could get involved, whether completing the full 5K course or opting for a shorter route.
Despite the colourful chaos, the focus remained firmly on making a difference within the local community. The funds raised yesterday will have a lasting impact, helping Cynthia Spencer continue its vital work across the county.
As the final clouds of colour settled over Overstone Park and participants crossed the finish line covered from head to toe in vibrant shades, the day was widely hailed as another successful celebration of community spirit, fundraising and fun.
