They were more than happy to answer questions, share stories about the locomotives and rolling stock, and help visitors make the most of their day. Their enthusiasm adds a personal touch that makes the experience even more enjoyable.

Watching the steam locomotive arrive at the platform, hearing the whistle echo through the station and feeling the gentle rhythm of the train as it heads through the Leicestershire countryside creates a wonderfully authentic experience.
One of the highlights of the journey is arriving at Leicester North Station, where visitors have the opportunity to get even closer to the locomotives. During our visit, passengers were invited onto the footplate of the steam locomotive to have their photograph taken. Standing where generations of engine drivers once worked provides a unique perspective of these magnificent machines and creates a lasting memory that railway fans of all ages will treasure. It’s one of those special experiences that you simply don’t expect to be included in a heritage railway visit.
